The Perfect Life Translation in Hindi
It is not growing like a tree
In bulk, doth make Man better be,
Or standing as an oak, three hundred year,
To fall a log at last, dry, bald and serve;
Hindi Translation – एक वृक्ष की तरह आकार में बढ़ जाने से कोई व्यक्ति श्रेष्ठ नहीं बनता और न ही शाहबलूत के वृक्ष की तरह, जो तीन सौ वर्षो तक जीवित रहता है, लम्बा जीवन प्राप्त करने पर किसी मनुष्य को श्रेष्ठता प्राप्त होती है | तीन सौ वर्षों के बाद भी शाहबलूत का वृक्ष अंत में लकड़ी के सूखे, मुरझाए हुआ और बिना पत्तों वाले लकड़ी के लट्ठे के रूप में गिर जाता है | इस प्रकार बिना श्रेष्ठ कार्यों के लम्बा जीवन भी व्यर्थ है |
A lily of a day
Is fairer far in May.
Although it fall and die that night –
It was the planted flower of light.
In small proportions we just beauties see.
And in short measure, life may perfect be.
Hindi Translation – एक लिली का फुल जो केवल सुबह के समय एक दिन के लिए खिलता है, मई के महीने के वसंत कल में विशाल शाहबलूत के वृक्ष की अपेक्षा अधिक सुन्दर दिखाई पड़ता है | यद्यपि लिली उसी तार मुरझाकर गिर जाती है और समाप्त हो जाती है, फिर भी उसका पौधा व् फुल दीप्त किरणों का पुंज कहलाते हैं |
हम संसार में छोटी-छोटी वस्तुओं में सुन्दरता को देखते हैं | इस लघुता में भी सुन्दरता आभामय हो सकती है तथा जीवन के छोटे से समय में भी एक पूर्ण जीवन प्राप्त किया जा सकता है |

(शाहबलूत का वृक्ष कितने वर्षों तक जीवित रहता है?)
Ans. An oak tree lives for three hundred years.
(शाहबलूत का वृक्ष तीन सौ वर्षों तक जीवित रहता है)
Q3. What happens to the oak tree at last?
(अंत में शाहबलूत के वृक्ष के साथ क्या घटित होता है?)
Ans. At last, the oak tree becomes dry and bald and it falls down like a log.
(अंत में, शाहबलूत वृक्ष सूख जाता है, पत्ते रहित हो जाता है तथा एक लकड़ी के लट्ठे के रूप में गिर जाता है)

Ans. Man is compared with the tree because both are born, grow and in the end die.
(मनुष्य की तुलना वृक्ष से इसलिए की गई है क्योंकि दोनों जन्म लेते हैं, बढ़ते हैं और अंत में मर जाते हैं)
Q5. Why is an oak tree called dry, bald and sere?
(शाहबलूत के वृक्ष को सुखा, मुरझाया हुआ और पत्ते रहित क्यों कहा गया है?)
Ans. The oak tree is called dry, bald and sere because at the end of its life it becomes dry, bald and sere.
(शाहबलूत के वृक्ष को सुखा, मुरझाया हुआ तथा पत्ते रहित इसलिए कहा गया है क्योंकि अपने जीवन के अंत में यह सुखा, मुरझाया हुआ तथा पत्ते रहित हो जाता है)
Q6. Why does the poet not like the life of an oak tree?
(कवि शाहबलूत वृक्ष के जीवन को क्यों पसंद नहीं करता है?)
Ans. The poet does not like the life of an oak tree because it has no charm or beauty. It stands for three hundred years. Yet it gives neither shadow nor fruits and flowers. When it dies, we get only a dry log of wood without leaves.
(कवि शाहबलूत वृक्ष के जीवन को पसंद नहीं करता है क्योंकि इसमें कोई आकर्षण या सुन्दरता नहीं होती | यह तीन सौ वर्षों तक खड़ा रहता है फिर भी यह न तो छाया देता है और न ही फल या फुल | जब यह मरता है तो हमें केवल सुखा हुआ बिना पत्तियों वाला लट्ठा मिलता है)

Ans. A lily lives only for a day.

(लिली शाहबलूत के वृक्ष से अच्छी क्यों है?)
Ans. A lily is a symbol of beauty and perfection. It gives joy to everyone who comes close to it. But and the oak tree has no use or charm. It is not liked by anybody. So a lily is better than an oak tree.
(एक लिली सुन्दरता और पूर्णता की प्रतिक है | यह उस प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को आनंद देती है जो इसके निकट आता है | किन्तु एक शाहबलूत के वृक्ष का कोई लाभ और सुन्दरता नहीं है | इसे कोई भी पसंद नहीं करता है इसलिए लिली शाहबलूत के वृक्ष से अच्छी है)

Ans. The characteristics of lily are given below:

- Lily flower has a short life (छोटा जीवन)
- It lives only for a day (केवल एक दिन का जीवन)
- It is very beautiful in the month of May (मई के महीने में ज्यादा सुन्दर)
- It gives its beholder joy and delight. (प्रसन्नता और आनंद देती है)

(अंत में लिली का क्या होता है?)
Ans. At last, lily falls and die.
(अंत में लिली मुरझाकर गिर जाती है)
Q5. In what ways does the poet find lily’s life better than oak’s life?
(कवि किस प्रकार लिली के जीवन को शाहबलूत के जीवन से अच्छा पाता है?)
Ans. Lily has a short life but it has beauty and attracts everybody. While an oak tree has a long life, yet it does not do any good for anybody. So the poet finds lily’s life better than oak’s life.
(लिली का जीवन छोटा होता है किन्तु इसमें सुन्दरता होती है और यह प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को आकर्षित करती है | जबकि एक शाहबलूत के वृक्ष का जीवन लम्बा होता है फिर भी यह किसी का भला नहीं करता | इसलिए कवि लिली के जीवन को शाहबलूत के जीवन से अच्छा पाता है)

Ans. In the last two olines the peot give us messsage that the life which is short but full of beauty is far better than that life which is long but uneventful.
(अंतिम दो पंक्तियों में कवि हमें सन्देश देता है कि जो जीवन छोटा है किन्तु सुन्दरता से भरा हुआ होता है, वह लम्बे लेकिन अप्रभावशाली जीवन से कहीं अधिक अच्छा होता है)
